Passionate about travelling since her first trip to Paris as a teenager, leading tours to Asia is a dream come true. Endlessly curious about other cultures, she has traipsed around Europe , the Middle East , Africa , Australia , Southeast Asia and Central and South America . She also lived on a kibbutz for a year and spent another working in Australia and New Zealand . Luckily, her career as an assistant movie director provided enough time and money to travel several months each year. “My movie buddies love buying all the latest toys, me, I spend all my spare cash on travelling.”
In her travels, she acquired more than wonderful memories, she has a bookcase full of photo albums, art from all over the world and real expertise in silver jewellery that began with the collection of bangles on her arm. Fluent in French and English, she can also converse passably in Spanish. While definitely rusty, she can manage in Italian and Hebrew. Learning enough to talk to people and to order from a menu all over Asia , is merely challenging, not impossible.
Introduced to Asian food and culture as a child -- she studied Indonesian dancing and cooking -- she lives in an area filled with Asian restaurants and markets. That way when she doesn’t want to cook, a great meal is only a short walk away.
An accomplished cook and a dedicated eater, she fell in love first with Vietnam and its wondrously complex, yet subtle, cuisine on a couple of extended visits, and then followed her tastebuds into the rest of Asia. If eating well makes travelling even more exciting, living well while you travel makes it sublime. So she started seeking out the most wonderful places to stay while she investigated the magical life and history of the stunningly varied countries.
Over the years she has been a tourist on quite a few package tours, and while she truly enjoys the fun and shared experience they provide, she eventually concluded that the tour she would most like to take would be one she designed and put together herself. It’s one of these that she’s inviting you to join.
A freelance journalist who has covered everything from high society to politics to sports for major newspapers and magazines in the U.S. and Canada, nowadays she spends most of her time trying to find excuses to fly to anywhere in Asia for another chance to pick her way through its ancient cultures. Not to mention shop.
